Anybody else love with '70s "women's pictures"?

I love a huge variety of movies from the '70s--but I really can't get enough of the feminist-influenced films of the '70s (and by feminist-influenced note that I DO NOT mean feminist). I'm talking...

AN UNMARRIED WOMAN (all-time favorite. I'm obsessed with Jill Clayburgh), LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR, ALICE DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE, 3 WOMEN, KLUTE, MAHOGANY...I could do nothing but watch'em over and over again and never get bored. What're your favorites?

Does anyone please know the name of this humble lil 70's film??

i saw this film about 10/15 years ago on tv and didn't catch the title and it's been driving me crazy ever since!
It starts with a suicidal girl phoning into a talk radio station. The conversation went like this..
Girl: "Its crazy isn't it? you get born and everybody makes a big deal over you, and some priest splashes water on your head, when you die you get flowers on your grave, but inbetween? it's like you're not there. So what's the difference right?"
DJ: "Oh terrific, that's very poetic sweetheart. Now in the meantime, i do have some other fruitcakes on the other line so whadoyasay i get back to work and you go out and jump infront of a taxi someplace ok? Thanks for calling. And on that happy note, a few badly phrased words from Foleys Hardware.."
Thie girl then disappears and the DJ feels really guilty, so he launches this big hunt for her on air. The whole town ends up looking for her and it's great suspense, until the end, when she's found on the beach under a pier. Alive or dead? Uh, do you really wanna know? I don't want to spoil the ending for you now incase you ever see it!
I don't think there are any famous actors in it, but it definitely has the look of a 70's film. It is possible it's late 60's, but i think 70's.
So........anyone any ideas?? Please help me, it's driven me wild (suicidal!) trying to find out what it's called - the film search engines on Google are crap.
Thanks a mill.

GALAXIE PICTURES is currently developing 'Unfiltered', the directorial debut for Creighton Vero, screenwriter of the indie cult hit 'Spun'.

For more information contact: pete@galaxie-pictures.com

SYNOPSIS:

Teenage Sherri, a new arrival to Lake Charles, Louisiana, gets a rude awakening as the locals give her a slice of real Southern hospitality, small town style. Included in her Lake Charles initiation are some hard lessons on friendship, family, and bigotry—not the kind made of ephemeral remarks and incidental ostracizing of outsiders, but real and vicious institutional racism, the kind that ends in murder.

Sherri arrives as the locals prepare for the funeral of Mary, the town’s Contraband Days Celebration Queen. With her death begins the shattering of the perfect picture of southern hospitality that she represents. Grieving is glossed over in favor of panic about the town’s quickly evaporating marijuana supply. What’s really died is the smiling welcoming south, and its warmth and hospitality are quickly replaced by a rapid growth of weeds.

Then the ensemble cast of Unfiltered gradually unwinds into a hard picture of gritty southern life as facades of tolerance gradually peel / crumble away. What’s revealed is the stuff that’s usually swept under the carpet.

okay, i have been trying all day to come up w/ the name of this & have failed both completely & utterly.

it is not the first time i have failed at this tasklet.

someone else will know, & immediately too.

there was a parody movie, it was a space parody movie, it was made, i believe by someone who became a major director, but it was made when he was in school. it was made in the 70s, it involved 2 guys who were sort of like stoners on a spaceship getting involved w/ a large pink ball that was something like "rover" on "the prisoner."

yes, i think they were going somewhere in the spaceship.

NAME IT.

i double dog dare you.

i CANT.

i have seen it, & i have seen it on tape. now, this may be a friend of a friends tape, if you get me, but i would like to see it again. it was really funny.

someone knows this one in the beat of one heart.

but it isnt me.

it isnt "amazon women on the moon" either. too late.

Has anyone seen this new documentary/autobiography of Robert Evans, the fellow who produced for Paramunt such gems as Rosemary's Baby, The Godfather, Marathon Man and Love Story [ahem: the last item is only mentioned because it was a blockbuster, not necessarily a "gem"]? I watched it the other evening, and for anyone who's a fan of 70's flicks, this is a great film to take in. There's some great anecdotal information, aside from the fact that Evans was quite the interesting personality himself. Cheers.

From TvGuide.com:

Rev up the school bus, folks. The Partridge Family is coming back to town. VH1 has given the green light to a remake of the classic '70s sitcom, to debut sometime in 2004. Additionally, the casting of the new clan will be the subject of an upcoming VH1 reality show.

How long is this one going to last? *super-sigh*

(another) Remake of a Tobe Hooper film

They're remaking the Salem's Lot mini-series. This time, it'll be Rob Lowe in the lead, plus Donald Sutherland, Samantha Mathis, Rutger Hauer (Nighthawks!) and James Cromwell. Sure, the original lagged along calmly (for the most part), featured a talc-faced vampire boy who swung back and forth instead of floating, starred the yellow-helmeted David Soul (blah), and changed bits of the novel (as far as I remember), but it's an excellent afternoon watch, when you want the horror without much horror, blaring music or forced menace. It's a nice companion piece (or work up) to the superior The Other. Both films have lots of bright daylight shots of their idyllic surroundings -- almost douchey in their innocence.

Why is it that so many '70s films seem to have these super-blinding nature shots?

I've been watching alot of films from the 1970's lately. So I created this group because I'm sick of people talking about the latest mainstream movies in chat rooms. It seems that nobody is interested in movies from the past anymore so hopefully I can change that a little. Anybody can join and post but please be respectful. I don't want to hear "that movie sucks" or "Faye Dunaway can suck my ****", well maybe that's ok. Anyway I hope we can have some real discussions about 70's era films.
